Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Shoemake circles away.
Shoemake throws a nice looking combination but Danes bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Shoemake pushes Danes away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Danes gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Danes doesn't manage to clinch there - Shoemake circles away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

and Danes counters with a low kick, right behind Shoemake 's knee.

and Danes counters with a nice double leg into side control. Shoemake won't be happy with that.
Danes happy to just control the position for now.
Shoemake gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Danes working the ground and pound effectively.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Poor strikes thrown by Danes there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Danes has hold of Shoemake's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Shoemake manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Danes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Danes goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Shoemake is on top in guard.

Danes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shoemake manages to get himself to full guard.
Danes loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Shoemake wants to get back to his feet but Danes drags him back down.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Shoemake misses with a wild combination.
Danes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shoemake swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Danes throws a hook but Shoemake blocks it.

Danes feints and as Shoemake raises his hands in defense, Danes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Danes slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Danes working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Shoemake is breathing heavily.
Danes content to stall in guard here.
Danes's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Danes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Danes is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Shoemake is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Danes misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Shoemake swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Danes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shoemake as he jumps to the side.

Danes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shoemake's waist but Shoemake gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Danes off to one side.
Danes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Shoemake is fending him off so far but Danes persists. Nope, Shoemake circles away and we're back to standing.

Shoemake bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Danes's head.

Danes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Shoemake stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Danes swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Danes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shoemake manages to get himself to full guard.

Danes stands up and waves to Shoemake to follow him.

Danes clinches up with Shoemake and pushes him back against the cage.
Danes is trying to drag Shoemake to the mat but Shoemake just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Danes is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Shoemake gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Shoemake wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Shoemake on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Danes throws a punch but it's blocked by Shoemake.

Danes uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shoemake.
Sef Shoemake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Danes throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Shoemake.
Shoemake swings away with a leg kick that misses.

and Danes counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Shoemake is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Sef Shoemake has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Luke Danes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Danes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shoemake pinned against the cage. Shoemake gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Luke Danes showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Danes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
