Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Weir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Swien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Swien darts in and clinches Weir up against the cage.

Swien is looking to stand up but Weir isn't so interested in that idea.

Swien is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Weir wants to stand but Swien has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Swien is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Weir is aware though and is defending well.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Weir feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Swiens jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Swien gets control of Weir's arms and successfully pulls guard. Swien will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Swien has his foot on Weir's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Weir works his way back into a safe position though.

Swien has Weir pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Swien pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Weir tumbling to the mat - Swien dives into Weir's guard.
Swien takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

OK we're going to have a standup here. George Swien hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Weir tries to clinch up but Swien circles away and keeps his distance.

Weir throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Swien stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Swien counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Swien.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Swien jumps guard but Weir stands there with Swien around his waist. Swien gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Weir moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Weir tries to bum rush Swien with a series of wild strikes but Swien uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Weir feints a jab promting Swien to slip. Weir then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Swien slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

And that's the end of the fight!
William Weir showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Swien has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
