The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vegas feints and as Hughes raises his hands in defense, Vegas changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Vegas working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hughes tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Vegas stops Hughes from standing up.
Hughes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Vegas definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Vegas slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Vegas closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vegas lands in his opponent's guard.
Vegas trying to control but Hughes is working from the bottom.
Vegas throws a big elbow that misses.
Vegas with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hughes manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Vegas tries to hold on but Hughes postures up.
Vegas is trying to escape the mount.
Hughes lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Vegas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hughes on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
