Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dominickoy Palhares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Leroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leroy has chosen Black Dynamite as his entrance music. Bruce Leroy has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

I was talking to Palhares's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Leroy is fighting off a takedown attempt but Palhares is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Leroy to the mat. Leroy regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Palhares connects with a nice short shot to Leroy's temple.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Palhares is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Palhares winds up and cracks Leroy with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Leroy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Palhares. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Palhares is looking for a kimura but Leroy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Palhares to get the leverage.
Leroy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Palhares is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Leroy is bucking up trying to escape but Palhares cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

That has opened up Bruce Leroy's cut even more.

Palhares has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Leroy tries to lock up and control but Palhares gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Palhares is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Leroy has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Leroy!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Bruce Leroy hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Good leg kick by Leroy there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Palhares shoots in for a takedown but Leroy shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
