The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz blocks a low kick nicely.
Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown. Heaslip tries to sprawl out of it but Diaz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Heaslip manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ivan Heaslip seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Diaz fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Diaz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Heaslip's waist but Heaslip gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Diaz off to one side.
Ivan Heaslip has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keith Diaz.
Heaslip throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Diaz slips a jab from Heaslip.

Diaz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Heaslip is looking to chop away at Diaz's legs.

Diaz feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Heaslip's calf.

Heaslip circles away from the clinch attempt.
Diaz takes a swing at Heaslip's ribcage but misses.

Diaz works Heaslip's body with a nice hook.
Diaz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Heaslip pinned against the cage. Heaslip gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Diaz drops his hands momentarily and Heaslip takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Heaslip throws a leg kick but Diaz sees it coming and moves out of range.

Diaz moves in looking to clinch but Heaslip pushes him off.

Diaz dives in and grabs Heaslip's left leg, looking for a takedown. Heaslip pushes down on Diaz's head and hops out.

and Diaz counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Diaz is looking to clinch but Heaslip is avoiding it.
Diaz blocks a head kick by Heaslip.

Heaslip throws a shot from downtown. Diaz moves away and avoids it.
Heaslip throws a sloppy head kick and Diaz moves out of range easily.
Jab, jab by Diaz - just one landing.
Heaslip takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Heaslip scores with a sloppy right hand. Diaz should have avoided that one.

It looks like Keith Diaz has been cut.
Heaslip misses with a straight right.

Heaslip is breathing heavily.
Diaz is looking to clinch.
