PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Vegata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Master Chuin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chuin has chosen Remo WIlliams Theme as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Vegata!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Master Chuin!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chuin drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Vegata throws an overhand right that lands on Chuin's shoulder, as Chuin tries to avoid the shot.
Chuin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Vegata swivels and escapes.

Chuin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Vegata manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Chuin trying to control the position from guard on top but Vegata is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vegata tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vegata pulls Chuin in close to prevent any damage.
Chuin wants to control from the top but Vegata keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chuin is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Vegata is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Vegata has escaped and now he's on top!

Chuin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vegata defends well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chuin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vegata gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Antonio Vegata wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Antonio Vegata has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Master Chuin.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Antonio Vegata.
Chuin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vegata as he avoids it easily.

Chuin darts in and clinches Vegata up against the cage.

Vegata gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vegata lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Chuin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vegata is one step ahead there.

Chuin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vegata can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Chuin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Vegata defends it easily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Vegata is nestled in close to Chuin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vegata closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chuin did well to prevent Vegata getting side control.

Vegata pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Chuin back to the cage. Vegata follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Vegata is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Master Chuin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Vegata, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
