Penn fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rothko looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Rothko has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Penn finds it's way round the side to connect with Rothko 's head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Rothko takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Rothko might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Penn has got the better of the exchanges.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Penn looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rothko with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Penn content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Penn slips a nice elbow through Rothko 's hands, connecting with Rothko 's forehead.

Rothko wants to get back to full guard but Penn has passed into side control.
Penn working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Rothko seems to have recovered his senses.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Penn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rothko is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Penn throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rothko stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Bj Penn opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
