Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Calvin Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Evans!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Bruno Lombardi and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Charles is trying hard to land a takedown here. Evans sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Evans is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Evans blocks a head kick by Charles.
Evans tries to clinch but Charles is having none of it.
Charles shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Evans gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Charles gets control of Evans's arms and successfully pulls guard. Charles will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Evans trying to control the position from guard on top but Charles is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Evans drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Charles manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Evans has Charles in his guard.

Evans is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Charles presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Evans won't allow Charles to get back to his feet.

Evans gets to his feet. Charles looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Evans has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Charles avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Evans shoots in for a takedown but Charles shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Charles dives in and grabs Evans's left leg, looking for a takedown. Evans pushes down on Charles's head and hops out.

Charles doesn't manage to clinch there - Evans circles away.

Charles using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Evans has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Evans can't find room to land a body shot as Charles controls the action.
Evans lands a good knee to the midsection. Charles won't want to take too many of those.
Evans keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Charles's efforts to push away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Charles wants to clinch up but Evans keeps it at a distance.

Evans drops down looking for an ankle pick but Charles pulls his leg out and moves away.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Evans shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Charles pinned against the cage. Charles gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Evans wants to take the fight to the mat but Charles manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Evans tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Charles smiles and moves away.

Evans shoots in for a takedown but Charles shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Evans stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Evans wants it to stay on the feet.

Evans has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Charles uses from the top position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Charles tries to free his leg and advance position but Evans is retaining full guard.

Jason Evans is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Jason Evans comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Evans has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
