Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gary Westen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gauge Box!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Westen tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Box defends well and Westen ends up having to push Box into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Box breaks the clinch.
Box digs a good hook to Westen's body.
Westen takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Westen shoots and misses
and Box counters with a one-two to the body.
Westen closes the distance but Box moves to the side
and Box counters with a two punch combo.
Westen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Box pinned against the cage. Box gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gary Westen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Box lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Box.

Box stalks Westen and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Westen's face. Westen staggers backwards, shaken.

Box stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Box wants it to stay on the feet.
Westen takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Box keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Westen shoots in but Box avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Westen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Westen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Box moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Westen takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Westen looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Westen. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

We've been informed that Box has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Westen shoots in and drives through. Box sprawls well.
Box is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Westen had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Box scores with the left hand. Westen knows he should have avoided that one.
Box stalks Westen and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Westen's face. Westen staggers backwards, shaken.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Westen darts in looking for a takedown but Box gets double underhooks and turns Westen into the cage.

Box breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Danga de danga de dang - Box scores with a four punch combination!
No joy there for Box, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Westen fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Box cracks Westen with a right hand to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gauge Box dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Westen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Box's waist but Box gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Westen off to one side.
Westen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Box sprawls well. Box wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Westen gets slowly back to his feet.
Box throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Westen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Gauge Box seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Westen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Box avoids it really well and circles away.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Box can do anything to dispel that myth.

Westen is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Box looks calm but he's in trouble here. Westen gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Box is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Westen lets go of the hold and Box can pop his arm back in it's socket.
