PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Klas Micropop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igor Tatov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tatov has chosen Soundgarden - Superunknown as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Igor Tatov!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Micropop is looking to slow Tatov down with leg kicks.
Micropop jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Micropop throws a shot to the body.
Micropop is looking to clinch but Tatov is avoiding it.

Tatov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Micropop to the ground. Tatov is now in Micropop's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Micropop is looking to stand up but Tatov isn't so interested in that idea.
Tatov is looking to work some ground and pound but Micropop has wrist control.
Micropop is trying to control the position but Tatov postures up.
Tatov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Tatov throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Tatov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Tatov wants to control from the top but Micropop keeps moving.

Micropop wants to hit a switch here but Tatov passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Micropop there!
Tatov throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Micropop might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Micropop manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.
Micropop's coaches at Bruize Brothers have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Micropop is looking to improve his position.
Tatov thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Micropop's head.
Tatov is trying to control the action in half guard but Micropop is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Micropop avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Tatov.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tatov stops Micropop from getting back to his feet.
Tatov is nestled in close to Micropop, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Tatov looks to land a strike but Micropop avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Tatov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Micropop is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Tatov, into his guard.

Micropop stands and throws Tatov's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Micropop decides to stand back up.
Tatov pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Tatov tries to bum rush Micropop with a series of wild strikes but Micropop uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Micropop has closed the distance and engaged Tatov in a clinch.
Micropop stalls.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Micropop has a couple of punches blocked by Tatov.
Micropop digs a right hand underneath Tatov's ribcage. Tatov let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Tatov looks winded!

A close round but Igor Tatov will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Micropop pushes Tatov up against the cage in a clinch.

Micropop gets through Tatov's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Micropop misses with a punch on the inside.
Tatov misses with a hook to the ribs.

Tatov on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Micropop creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Tatov's defenses.

It looks like Igor Tatov has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tatov can't find room to land a body shot as Micropop controls the action.
Tatov goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Tatov takes a shot to the head.
Micropop lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Tatov creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Tatov is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Micropop is defending well for now.
Tatov using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Micropop has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Tatov misses with a shot to the kidneys.
A short body shot lands from Micropop as the two fighters clinch.
Tatov is breathing heavily.
Micropop misses with a punch to the body.
Micropop lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Micropop pushes Tatov against the cage. Micropop is working some dirty boxing. Micropop pushes off with a quick right hook! Tatov goes down! Tatov tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Micropop moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Klas Micropop!
In his post fight interview, Klas Micropop started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Igor Tatov was interviewed post fight and said 'thanks for the memories, Montreal, I go out on my shield for you.'.
