The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kanapka lands with a good body shot.

Kanapka fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johnson, pushing him back against the cage.

Still in the clinch, Kanapka scores with a nice short uppercut.
Johnson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kanapka to keep the fight standing.

I was talking to Johnson's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Adam Kanapka.
Johnson clobbers Kanapka with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Kanapka gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kanapka prevents a body shot from Johnson.
Johnson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Johnson lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Kanapka has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. So far he's outscoring his opponent in the clinch so it seems to have been worthwhile.
