The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Africanus scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
We've been hearing reports that Africanus has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Hemingway tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Africanus manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Hemingway displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Africanus throws out the jab.

Africanus has Hemingway pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Africanus pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hemingway tumbling to the mat - Africanus dives into Hemingway's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hemingway is on top in guard.

Africanus cracks Hemingway with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Hemingway tries to lock up and control but Africanus gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Africanus is landing with some decent strikes but Hemingway is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.


That has opened up James Hemingway's cut even more.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at James Hemingway's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
