The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ares connects with a body shot.
Ares looks to clinch
and Smiff counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looks like Nicholas Ares has been cut.
Ares tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Smiff counters with a single leg into guard. Ares didn't expect that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smiff cracks Ares with a solid left hand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smiff is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Ares looks calm but he's in trouble here. Smiff gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Ares is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Smiff lets go of the hold and Ares can pop his arm back in it's socket.
