Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yuri Boyka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brenden Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brenden Abbott has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Yuri Boyka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brenden Abbott!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Abbott. Boyka shrugs it off though.
Abbott throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've been hearing reports that Boyka has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Abbott fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Abbott scores with a body shot.
Brenden Abbott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Abbott looks to land a left hand but Boyka moved out of range nicely.
Abbott ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A jab from Abbott does it's job there.
Boyka takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Abbott dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Boyka gets a double leg takedown into Abbott's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Abbott looking to hit a scissor sweep but Boyka is one step ahead there.
Abbott bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Boyka's guard.

Abbott is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Boyka is looking for a triangle but Abbott pushes his legs off easily.

Boyka looking for a guillotine here but Abbott defends easily.
Abbott is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Boyka lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Abbott!
Boyka throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Abbott is looking to improve his position but Boyka isn't that keen on the idea.

Boyka raining down shots from the mount!
Abbott keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Boyka throws some wild stikes that Abbott manages to avoid easily.
Abbott blocking the ground and pound.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Abbott sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Boyka is looking to stall here but Abbott recovers full guard.
Boyka would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Boyka throwing strikes from guard but Abbott blocks nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boyka trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Abbott looking to control.
Boyka throws an elbow that misses. Abbott uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Boyka's guard. Nice move by Abbott!

Boyka looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Abbott is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Abbott stopping the sweep attempt from Boyka.
Boyka has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Abbott wants to control from the top but Boyka keeps moving.
Abbott chips away with some ground and pound.

Abbott distracts Boyka with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boyka looking for a guillotine here but Abbott defends easily.
Boyka is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Boyka keeping moving, preventing Abbott from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Abbott is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Boyka wants to sweep here but Abbott controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Brenden Abbott will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Abbott cracks Boyka with a good jab.
Boyka looks for a takedown but Abbott sprawls well.
Abbott's jab looks to have found its range, popping Boyka under the eye.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Abbott!
Abbott fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Abbott throws a head kick that half lands.
Brenden Abbott seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Abbott lands a nice looking body kick.
Boyka drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.


Boyka is rocked!
Abbott ducks down and throws a big overhand right - it lands flush on the jaw, knocking Boyka out cold! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Brenden Abbott!
An out of breath Brenden Abbott thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
