Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Matthew Beaver!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beaver takes the fight into the clinch.

Beaver drags the fight down to the ground.
Bre is stalling in the full guard.
Bre wanted to stand there but Beaver had control of the position.
Beaver wants to sweep but no luck.
Beaver trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Beaver escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bre gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Beaver can do anything to dispel that myth.
Beaver looking for a sweep. Not yet Beaver, not yet.
Bre wants to pass the guard but Beaver is keeping the position.
Bre wants to get up but he can't break Beaver's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Beaver is looking for a triangle but Bre pushes his legs off easily.
Beaver manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bre manages to get himself to full guard.
Beaver sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Beaver trying to control the position from guard on top but Bre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bre not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Beaver is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Let's hope that Beaver has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Bre trying to keep a closed guard but Beaver is proving a slippery customer.

We're going to have a standup here because Djomla Bre wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Beaver gets the takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bre wants to control but Beaver postures up.
Beaver takes a little break here. Bre wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Beaver looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Bre pushes Beaver away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Beaver gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Bre takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Beaver working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Beaver is chipping away with strikes.

Bre wants to get back to his feet but Beaver drags him back down.
Bre is trying to control Beaver's posture but Beaver avoids it.
Bre is breathing heavily.
Bre tries to improve position but can't.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Bre manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Beaver lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bre!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Beaver fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Beaver has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Beaver avoids the attempt from Bre to control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matthew Beaver dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Beaver fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bre, pushing him back against the cage.

Matthew Beaver has got the better of the ground game so far.

Beaver seems to be working for a kimura but Bre defends the submission attempt.
Beaver landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Still in half guard, Beaver seems content to control.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Beaver lands a nice short elbow.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Beaver seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Bre won't allow Beaver to pass to mount.
Beaver lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Beaver is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Beaver has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bre trying to hold on to Beaver's head to control him but Beaver postures up.

Bre is trying to control but can't.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Beaver seems to be working for a kimura but Bre defends the submission attempt.
Bre is looking to improve his position.
Beaver content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Beaver wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bre, who protects the arm well.
Beaver advances to full mount.
Beaver breaks from Bre's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Beaver lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Beaver cracks Bre with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
A nice elbow there by Beaver.


Bre is rocked!
Bre could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Whack. That's a big, big shot from Beaver! Bre is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Matthew Beaver!
