PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rutger Crax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duncan McAlister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McAlister has chosen Ylvis - The Fox as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Duncan McAlister will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Duncan McAlister!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crax throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Crax just misses with a punch to the body.
McAlister takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Crax misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McAlister steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Crax.
Crax throws a head kick that McAlister semi-blocks.
Crax misses with a two punch combination.
McAlister misses with an uppercut. Crax saw that one coming.
Crax jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Crax throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A looping hook to the body misses from Crax. McAlister does a little dance to reset his feet.

Crax throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Crax scores with a one two! McAlister had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

and McAlister counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McAlister.
A right handed body shot lands from McAlister.
McAlister lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Crax or not.

Crax is trying to trip McAlister. He has hold of a leg but McAlister is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Crax persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

McAlister escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Crax gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Crax is fighting to break McAlister's control of his arms but McAlister is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Crax won't allow McAlister to get back to his feet.

Crax drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McAlister manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Crax has McAlister in his guard.

Crax has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McAlister can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McAlister feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Crax's calf.

McAlister tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Crax was well out of range. Poor timing from McAlister.
A solid leg kick lands there for McAlister.
Crax is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McAlister.
Crax throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

McAlister drops his shoulder and cracks Crax with a huge uppercut! Crax goes down! Can McAlister finish him?


Crax is rocked!


Rutger Crax's cut is getting worse.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Crax wants to sweep here but McAlister controlling him for the moment.
Oh Crax is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
McAlister postures up.
Crax seems to have got his legs back now.
McAlister controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
McAlister wants to pass the guard but Crax is keeping the position.
We've been hearing good reports from Crax's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Crax bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McAlister's guard.

After winning the bout, Duncan McAlister thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
