Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ferdinando Ferrari!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferrari throws a shot from downtown. Charles moves away and avoids it.
Charles throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ferrari swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Charles.
Charles throws a poor cross that misses

and Ferrari counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Charles's guard now.
Ferrari with a nice head shot there.
Charles looking for a sweep. Not yet Charles, not yet.
Charles looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Charles keeping moving, preventing Ferrari from controlling successfully.
Ferrari looking to pass the guard.
Charles can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ferrari controls the pace.

Ferrari with a flurry of punches that miss.
Charles is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Charles pulls Ferrari in close to his closed guard and prevents Ferrari from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ferrari scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Charles throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ferrari.
Charles throws an overhand right that lands on Ferrari's shoulder, as Ferrari tries to avoid the shot.
Ferrari throws a leg kick but Charles sees it coming and moves out of range.

Charles throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Ferrari counters with a single leg into guard. Charles didn't expect that.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ferrari accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Charles tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ferrari is looking to work some ground and pound but Charles has wrist control.
Ferrari working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ferrari trying to control the position from guard on top but Charles is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ferrari controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Ferrari has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Ferrari trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Ferrari lands a couple of elbows.
Charles avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Ferrari is looking to work some ground and pound but Charles has wrist control.
Ferrari postures up in Charles's guard and throws a big left but Charles blocks it.
Ferrari advances to half guard.
Ferrari wants to control but Charles is keeping him busy.

Ferrari is looking for a kimura but Charles is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ferrari to get the leverage.
Ferrari winds up and cracks Charles with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Ferrari is trying to control. Charles wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Ferrari is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Charles is not content to let Ferrari control the position.
Ferrari is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ferrari is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ferrari thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Charles's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ferdinando Ferrari dominated that round.
That's time! Charles's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Charles throws a nice looking combination but Ferrari bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Crunch! Charles slams his shin into Ferrari's torso.
Ferrari lands an overhand right.
Charles displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ferrari.
Charles loads up on a big right hand but Ferrari slips the punch.
Charles lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Ferrari looks to throw the jab but Charles is out of range.
Charles tries to close the distance and clinch but Ferrari swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ferrari tests Charles's chin there with a solid looking shot.
The fighters circling - Ferrari throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Charles avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Ferrari drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ferrari looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Charles regains half guard.
Ferdinando Ferrari has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ferrari tries to pass to full mount but Charles defends it.
Ferrari is controlling the pace.
Charles manages to get to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ferrari loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Charles avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Ferrari won't allow Charles to sweep him here.
Ferrari throwing strikes from guard but Charles blocks nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ferrari wants to control from the top but Charles keeps moving.

Ferrari passes Charles's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Charles is looking to control Ferrari's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Charles avoid being mounted?
Charles tries to roll over but Ferrari keeps him under control.
Ferrari seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Charles does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Charles tries to get to full guard but Ferrari has control of the leg.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ferdinando Ferrari hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Charles swinging wildly here.
Charles throws a leg kick
and Ferrari counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Some wild striking there from Charles.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ferrari throws a quick inside leg kick.
Ferrari scores with a jab to the jaw.
A telegraphed right hand from Ferrari misses the target.

Ferdinando Ferrari showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Ferrari dives in and grabs Charles's left leg, looking for a takedown. Charles pushes down on Ferrari's head and hops out.
Charles swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Ferrari.
Charles tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ferrari swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Ferrari counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Charles throws a body punch but Ferrari moves out of range.

Charles digs a good body shot into Ferrari's ribs.

Charles tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Charles has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Ferrari.
David Charles is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ferrari throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Ferrari fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
David Charles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ferdinando Ferrari.

Ferrari looking to score a takedown here. Charles is defending well but Ferrari drives through and ends up in Charles's guard.
Ferrari controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ferrari stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Charles swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ferdinando Ferrari is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ferdinando Ferrari was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Charles fails to land with a series of punches.

Charles has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ferrari finds it's way round the side to connect with Charles's head.
Ferrari dives in and grabs Charles's left leg, looking for a takedown. Charles pushes down on Ferrari's head and hops out.
Ferrari looks to land a left hand but Charles moved out of range nicely.
Ferrari is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Charles.
David Charles has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ferrari misses with an uppercut.
Charles tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ferrari manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ferrari darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Nice uppercut lands for Charles. That snapped Ferrari's head back.

David Charles is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fight stays on the outside here - Charles looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Charles keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Ferdinando Ferrari comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ferrari has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
