Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Solomon Gillespie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Pyne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aaron Pyne is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aaron Pyne!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pyne fails to land the takedown.

Gillespie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Gillespie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pyne gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Gillespie might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Pyne shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gillespie as he avoids it easily.

Gillespie feints and as Pyne raises his hands in defense, Gillespie changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Pyne is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've been informed that Pyne has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Pyne seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Pyne is looking to work some ground and pound but Gillespie has wrist control.
Pyne must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Pyne is trying to shake Gillespie off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Gillespie won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Gillespie.
Pyne tries to clinch there but Gillespie circles away.
Pyne changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gillespie tries to avoid it but Pyne manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gillespie to the ground. Gillespie escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Gillespie has closed the distance and engaged Pyne in a clinch.

Gillespie gets control of Pyne's arms and successfully pulls guard. Gillespie will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gillespie holds on and takes a little breather.
Gillespie controls Pyne momentarily but Pyne frees himself.

Pyne postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gillespie is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pyne, into his guard.

Well Gillespie has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
