Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Samuel Derpens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kirko Ledoy!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Ledoy. Beautiful body shot.
Derpens doesn't manage to clinch there - Ledoy circles away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ledoy is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Derpens pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Ledoy blocks the elbow strike.
Ledoy keeps control of Derpens as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Derpens manages to break the clinch.
Derpens misses with a jab to the body
and Ledoy counters with a slapping leg kick.

Ledoy has closed the distance and engaged Derpens in a clinch.
Ledoy blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Derpens is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Derpens makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Ledoy fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Derpens utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Derpens is looking to break free of the clinch but Ledoy has double underhooks.
Derpens looking to throw knees to the head but Ledoy is blocking nicely.
Derpens has Ledoy pressed against the cage, preventing Ledoy from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Ledoy takes an elbow to the forehead.


It looks like Kirko Ledoy has been cut.
Ledoy wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Ledoy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Ledoy closes the distance and clinches.

Derpens breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ledoy throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Ledoy swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Derpens wants to clinch.

A punch combination from Ledoy misses.
Ledoy misses with a hook. Derpens ducked under it nicely.
Derpens misses with a head kick.
A head kick misses from Derpens.
Ledoy throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Derpens on the side of the head.


It looks like Samuel Derpens has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ledoy throws a series of punches but Derpens moves out of range.

Ledoy moves into the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Ledoy's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Derpens using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Ledoy has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Ledoy throws a head punch that misses.

Derpens pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A low kick from Ledoy is predictable there
and Derpens counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ledoy throws a body kick that misses.
Derpens tries to clinch but Ledoy moves away
and Ledoy counters with a right hand to the body.
Ledoy throws a head kick but Derpens moves out of range.
Derpens walks into a stiff left hand from Ledoy.
Nice shot by Ledoy.

Ledoy has managed to clinch.
Ledoy stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Ledoy trying to stall but Derpens improves his position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Derpens manages to break the clinch.
Ledoy circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ledoy just misses with a punch to the body.
Some wild striking there from Ledoy.
Ledoy lands a two punch combo.
Kirko Ledoy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Derpens takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Ledoy is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Derpens rather than just go for the knockout.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Derpens tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ledoy throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Derpens tries to close the distance and clinch but Ledoy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kirko Ledoy dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Derpens closes the distance and pushes Ledoy back into the cage.
Ledoy wants to break the clinch but can't.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Derpens takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Nice elbow from Derpens.
Derpens connects with a nasty looking knee right to Ledoy's face.
Derpens pushes off an throws an elbow but Ledoy leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Derpens crunches a lovely knee into Ledoy's ribcage.
Ledoy trying to control the position but instead, Derpens has worked for underhooks and has pushed Ledoy into the cage.
I was talking to Derpens's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Derpens tries to land knees in the clinch but Ledoy avoids the damage to the body.

Derpens breaks from the clinch.
Ledoy lands with a straight right. Derpens didn't see that one coming.
Ledoy just misses with a punch to the body.
Derpens has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Derpens there as he acknowledges the shot.
Ledoy punishes Derpens's body with a nice straight punch.
Derpens throws a head kick but Ledoy moves out of range.

Derpens clinches up with Ledoy and pushes him back against the cage.
Ledoy is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Derpens wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Derpens pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Derpens breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ledoy swats away the attempt to clinch by Derpens.
Samuel Derpens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ledoy connects with a stiff jab that staggers Derpens - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

Kirko Ledoy bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
