PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Uthred Osbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pettis has chosen The Climb-Mylie Cyrus as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Anthony Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Atkins and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Osbert drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Pettis is trying to control the position but Osbert postures up.
Osbert postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Osbert is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Osbert wants to pass the guard but Pettis is keeping the position.
Osbert engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Osbert throwing strikes but missing.
Osbert pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pettis is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pettis tries to strike from the bottom.

Osbert prevents Pettis from getting back to his feet.
Osbert keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pettis's head.
Osbert tries to free his leg and advance position but Pettis is retaining full guard.
Pettis is trying to control the position but Osbert postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Osbert throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pettis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Osbert makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Osbert stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pettis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pettis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pettis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Osbert is controlling him.
Pettis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Pettis tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Osbert makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Osbert got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pettis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Osbert has managed to get both his arms back between Pettis's legs - danger averted.
Osbert slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Osbert has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Osbert might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Osbert working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Pettis's head.
Osbert tries to free his leg and advance position but Pettis is retaining full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Osbert accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Osbert is stalling in the full guard.
Pettis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Pettis doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Osbert with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Osbert is in close to Pettis's body, working some short punches and elbows.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Uthred Osbert dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Pettis tries to score a power double leg takedown but Osbert sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pettis somewhat.
Osbert defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pettis.
Pettis tries to clinch up.
Pettis ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Osbert shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Pettis has hold of Osbert's hands but Osbert slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Pettis wants to get back to his feet.
Osbert is taking a breather. Pettis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Osbert passes the guard and advances to mount!
Pettis is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Osbert lands a heavy elbow.
Pettis is breathing heavily.
Osbert connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pettis wants to get back to his feet.
Pettis can't escape the position.
Osbert drops a big elbow. That's hurt Pettis! More shots from Osbert and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Uthred Osbert!
In defeat, Anthony Pettis stepped up to the mic, saying 'I have a little mistake.! Thankz funs!'.
