Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Takashi Katsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomasz Drwal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drwal has chosen Nightwish Crimson Tide as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Takashi Katsumoto!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tomasz Drwal!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Katsumoto tries to score a power double leg takedown but Drwal sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Katsumoto somewhat.
Drwal is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Katsumoto looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Katsumoto has been working on his boxing with his coaches at A'DAM * GYM * PUBLIC in the buildup to the fight.
Drwal misses with a body shot.
Drwal stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Drwal wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Takashi Katsumoto. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Drwal finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Drwal tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Katsumoto paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Drwal, right into the meat.
Katsumoto throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Drwal sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Drwal tries to clinch there but Katsumoto circles away.

Drwal drives through and clinches with Katsumoto against the cage.

Katsumoto successfully pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Katsumoto uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Drwal tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Drwal moves into range and clinches up with Katsumoto.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Katsumoto has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Drwal is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Katsumoto is trying to drag Drwal to the mat but Drwal just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Katsumoto works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Drwal manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Drwal prevents the takedown attempt.
Drwal has had enough of the clinch but Katsumoto keeps him there for the moment.

Drwal manages to break the clinch.
Katsumoto fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Katsumoto lands with a good body shot.
Katsumoto takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Drwal clinches with his opponent.
Katsumoto is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Katsumoto is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Drwal is defending well.
Drwal tries to break the clinch but Katsumoto is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Katsumoto letting Drwal take a breather here.
Katsumoto drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Drwal gets the underhooks and prevents it.
With the fighters up against the cage, Katsumoto throws an elbow but misses.

Drwal pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Katsumoto looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Drwal fails with an attempt to clinch.
Drwal scores with a crisp jab that stopped Katsumoto in his tracks.
No luck for Katsumoto with that takedown attempt.
Drwal tries to close the distance and clinch but Katsumoto swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Katsumoto avoids the head kick by Drwal.
Tomasz Drwal is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Katsumoto catches Drwal with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Drwal throws a shot to the body.
Drwal throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Katsumoto defending well as Drwal loads up on a big left hand.
Drwal takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Katsumoto will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Katsumoto darts in and clinches Drwal up against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Drwal takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Katsumoto jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Drwal walks away with a smile on his face. Katsumoto gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Katsumoto shoots in for a takedown but Drwal shows good takedown defense.

Drwal pushes Katsumoto up against the cage in a clinch.
Drwal wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Drwal is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Katsumoto is keeping busy.
Katsumoto looking to stall.

Katsumoto breaks the clinch.
Crunch! Drwal slams his shin into Katsumoto's torso.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
An inside leg kick lands from Katsumoto.

Drwal clinches up against the cage.

Drwal breaks from the clinch.

Katsumoto scores with a takedown into Drwal's guard.
Katsumoto wants to control from the top but Drwal keeps moving.
Drwal working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Katsumoto.
Drwal wants to stand up but Katsumoto is controlling him.

Drwal pushes Katsumoto off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Drwal wants to clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Katsumoto will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Katsumoto swats away the attempt to clinch by Drwal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tomasz Drwal will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Katsumoto fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Drwal sprawls well initially but Katsumoto persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Katsumoto prevents Drwal from improving his position.
Drwal pushes Katsumoto off looking to stand but Katsumoto dives back in and keeps control.
Katsumoto thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Katsumoto is working for a submission of some sort.
Katsumoto prevents Drwal from standing back up.
Katsumoto is looking to advance position but Drwal won't allow it.
Katsumoto moves into full mount! Drwal won't be happy about that!
Katsumoto avoids the attempt from Drwal to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Drwal is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
BOOM! Katsumoto connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Katsumoto landing punches.
Katsumoto lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Katsumoto landing strikes from the mount and Drwal is in trouble!
Katsumoto with the ground and pound from mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Drwal is squirming around, avoiding Katsumoto's attempts to control the action.
Drwal wants to hold on but Katsumoto pushes him away.
Katsumoto wants to control the pace but Drwal is squirming around nicely.
Drwal tries to buck Katsumoto off but he can't manage it.
Drwal is looking to improve his position but Katsumoto isn't that keen on the idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Katsumoto landing strikes from the mount and Drwal is in trouble!
Drwal wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Katsumoto postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Drwal looks a forlorn figure.


Drwal is rocked!
Katsumoto postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Drwal in real trouble here! The ref calls for Drwal to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Takashi Katsumoto!
Takashi Katsumoto is the new middleweight champion!
After winning the bout, Takashi Katsumoto thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
