Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Snead (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Ripley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Snead comes into the arena with Trinidad James - All Gold Everything blaring out of the sound system. Ripley has chosen The Talented Mr. Ripley - Tu Vuo' Fa l'Americano as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Mr Ripley has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Sam Snead's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mr Ripley!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snead avoids the head kick by Ripley.
Ripley throws out a loose jab but Snead uses good head movement to avoid it.
Snead throws a series of strikes that have Ripley backpedaling.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ripley is defended easily by Snead.
Snead just misses with a punch to the body.
Ripley rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Snead moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Snead lands with a kick to the ribs.

Ripley clinches up against the cage.

Snead breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Snead pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ripley back to the cage. Snead follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Ripley on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Snead. Snead obviously looking to wear him down.

Ripley just misses with a punch to the body.
Snead stalks Ripley and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ripley's face. Ripley staggers backwards, shaken.

Sam Snead is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Snead throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Snead scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ripley doesn't seem bothered though.
Ripley shoots for a takedown but Snead saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ripley misses with an attempted mid kick.
Ripley is looking to clinch but Snead is avoiding it.
Snead defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ripley.
Ripley is trying desperately to land a takedown but Snead is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Ripley.

Snead rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ripley moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ripley closes the distance and clinches up with Snead, looking for a takedown. Ripley pushes Snead against the cage but Snead circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Snead feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ripley's calf.
Ripley throws a hook to the side of Snead's head but Snead sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Snead misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Snead rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ripley moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Snead throws a right and a left that Ripley avoids nicely.

Horrible takedown by Ripley or perhaps it was just good defense by Snead which made him look bad.

Ripley shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Snead but Snead pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Snead tries to bum rush Ripley with a series of wild strikes but Ripley uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Snead looks to land a combination but Ripley avoids it well.
Sloppy strikes from Ripley. Those never looked like landing.
Snead avoids a punch combination nicely.
Snead throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Snead connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Snead swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ripley shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Snead defends it nicely.
Snead feints a jab promting Ripley to slip. Snead then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Ripley slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ripley swings away with a body shot that misses
and Snead counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Ripley is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Snead tests Ripley's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Ripley fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Snead manages to avoid it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ripley will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Snead lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Snead showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ripley.

Ripley tries to clinch but Snead is having none of it.

and Ripley counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Snead bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ripley's head backwards.
Snead looks to land a body kick but Ripley moved away.
Ripley takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Ripley closes the distance and pushes Snead back into the cage.
Ripley tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Snead smiles and moves away.
Sam Snead is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ripley connects with a jab.

Ripley lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Snead circles away quickly and effectively.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ripley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Snead defends it easily.

Snead controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've been hearing that Snead has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Snead stands and steps away. Ripley gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Ripley thumps Snead with a low kick.
Ripley misses with the combination.
Snead chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ripley can pounce on him.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Snead, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
