Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Holmes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Bones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jeff Holmes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mario Bones!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bones gets caught napping as Holmes dives in and scores a takedown. Bones manages to retain guard.
Bones looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Holmes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bones swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bones manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Holmes throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bones tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Holmes is in Bones's guard.
Bones wants to stand up but Holmes is controlling him.
Holmes wanted to stand there but Bones had control of the position.
Holmes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Bones is looking to stand up but Holmes isn't so interested in that idea.
Bones keeping moving, preventing Holmes from controlling successfully.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jeff Holmes.

Holmes shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bones is trying to defend but Holmes finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Holmes tries to pass to full mount but Bones defends it.

Bones is refusing to be controlled, as Holmes sits in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bones tries to kick Holmes off but Holmes keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Holmes is taking a breather. Bones says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Jeff Holmes wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Bones throws a left and a right that both miss
and Holmes counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Holmes shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bones napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Holmes wants to control but Bones is keeping him busy.

Holmes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Holmes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Holmes is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Bones will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Holmes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bones has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Holmes trying to control the position but Bones is working away.
Bones is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Holmes is controlling him well.

Holmes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bones, who protects the arm well.
Holmes tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Bones looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Holmes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bones on the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bones tries to escape but Holmes is in control.

Holmes working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Bones is not content to let Holmes control the position.
Holmes throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Holmes tries to stand but Bones is controlling his head.
Holmes misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Bones is pushing Holmes's head away, looking to escape. Holmes manages to hold on to the position though.

Holmes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Holmes tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Bones has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Holmes after a bit of a struggle.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Holmes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bones sprawls well initially but Holmes persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Bones is trying to stand up here but Holmes is controlling him well.
Holmes is keen to just control but Bones is a slippery customer.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Bones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Holmes wants to stand and escape but Bones is having none of it.
Holmes on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Holmes tries to get out of the position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Holmes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Bones thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Bones is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Bones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Holmes swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mario Bones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Holmes had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bones defends it easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Holmes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jeff Holmes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Bones drops back looking for a leg! Holmes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Holmes manages to kick Bones off! Bones jumps back into Holmes's guard.

Well Holmes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
