PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mitchell Menchaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fidel Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Fidel Mendez was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Fidel Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Menchaka creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Menchaka is looking to control Mendez's arms but Mendez gets an underhook and turns him. Now Menchaka has his back to the cage.
Menchaka blocks an uppercut.
Mendez misses with a hook from the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Menchaka tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mendez's elbow.

It looks like Fidel Mendez has been cut.
Mendez throws an elbow but it misses.
The referee is keeping an eye on Menchaka - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Menchaka stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Menchaka scores with a nice hook to the head.
Mendez misses with an elbow over the top.
Menchaka tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Mendez just misses with a elbow thrown towards Menchaka's brow.

Menchaka wants to get back to striking at distance but Mendez won't allow it.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Mendez has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!

A less than humble Mitchell Menchaka misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
