The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fadda shoots in and drives through. Weir sprawls well.
Left hook, right uppercut from Weir.

Weir lands a left and a right that send Fadda crashing to the mat, dazed. Weir thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Baptista Fadda has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Weir misses with a series of wild punches.
Weir digs a good hook to Fadda's body.

Weir breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fadda tries to score a power double leg takedown but Weir sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fadda somewhat.
Weir defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Fadda.
Will Weir has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Baptista Fadda.

Fadda fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Weir to the ground. Fadda is now in Weir's guard.
Weir wants to stand up but Fadda is controlling him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fadda thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Fadda prevents Weir from getting back to his feet.

Weir trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Fadda got a little sloppy there for a moment and Weir has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fadda has managed to get both his arms back between Weir's legs - danger averted.
Fadda slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Fadda is working Weir over with some ground and pound from side control.
Weir wants to get back to his feet but Fadda drags him back down.
Fadda advances to mount.
Weir really wants to buck Fadda off and get back to his feet.
Weir is breathing heavily.
Fadda looking to control but Weir is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
