The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Derksen just misses with a punch to the body.
Cartman takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Derksen rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Cartman counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Cartman is thwarting Derksen's attempts to control the position.
Cartman thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Derksen wants to improve his position but Cartman is controlling well.
Cartman working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cartman goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Derksen has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Cartman but great work by Derksen.

Eric Cartman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Derksen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Cartman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Derksen won't be happy with that.

Cartman cracks Derksen with a big right hand but Derksen just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Cartman postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Derksen is looking to regain half guard here but Cartman keeps moving and retains side control.
I wouldn't like to be where Derksen is right now.

Cartman lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Cartman remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Cartman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Derksen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cartman wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Eric Cartman hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

I would just about give that final round to Eric Cartman.
