PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Blaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blaze kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Monster by Skillet. James has chosen Tuesday's Gone as his entrance music. Johnny Blaze could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Tommy James's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tommy James!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James throws a series of punches but Blaze moves out of range.
No joy there for Blaze, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Blaze closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
James blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Blaze misses with a head kick.
James fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Blaze manages to avoid it.
Blaze looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

James throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

James pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Blaze back to the cage. James follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

James ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blaze moves away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
James tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Blaze bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tommy James dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


James throws a right hand that Blaze ducks under and follows up with a left that Blaze also avoids with ease.

James is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Blaze can't fight it off and eventually James manages to take the fight to the floor. Blaze looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
James looking to sit in guard and control but Blaze gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Our spies down at at Hey Steve's Fight Shack inform us that James has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Blaze is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Johnny Blaze.
Blaze tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but James paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Blaze with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling James to score with a decent uppercut.
