Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kevin James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Kingston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kingston has chosen 2pac - I'm Soulja as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Nate Kingston has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nate Kingston!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kingston misses with a body kick.

James closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
James working the ground and pound from side control.
James wants to control but Kingston is keeping him busy.
The ground and pound from James seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Kingston sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
James scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

James stops Kingston from getting back to his feet.
Kingston is trying to defend against the ground and pound but James scores with a couple of nice shots.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

James is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Well, if James is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
James is looking to stall here but Kingston recovers full guard.

Kingston looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

James got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kingston has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, James has managed to get both his arms back between Kingston's legs - danger averted.
James stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kingston swivels though and keeps the full guard.
James wants to control from the top but Kingston keeps moving.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James is trying to control. Kingston wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
James is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Kingston is looking for a sweep. James is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
James is trying to control the action in half guard but Kingston is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Kingston pushes James off and gets back to his feet.

James dives in for a single leg takedown but Kingston sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by James.
James tries to pull guard but Kingston holds him up against the cage and eventually James drops back down to his feet.

James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
James misses with an uppercut.
James closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kingston circles away.
James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
James blocks the body kick.
James throws a front kick aimed at Kingston's knee but Kingston avoids it well.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kingston throws a nice looking combination but James bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kingston stuffs the takedown attempt from James. James gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James shoots in but Kingston avoids the takedown attempt easily.
James misses with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
James looks for a takedown but Kingston sprawls well.
Kingston attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

James shoots in looking for a takedown. Kingston tries to sprawl out of it but James keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kingston manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Nate Kingston is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kingston checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
James darts in looking for a takedown but Kingston gets double underhooks and turns James into the cage.

James misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
James closes the distance and clinches up with Kingston, looking for a takedown. James pushes Kingston against the cage but Kingston circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kingston takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

James shoots in and bounces Kingston off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

James has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
James chips away with some ground and pound.

James avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kingston tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kingston to the ground. Kingston escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

James shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kingston is trying to control but can't.
Kingston is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but James is staying active.
Kingston is not content to let James control the position.

James is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kingston is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Kevin James overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Kingston wants to get back to full guard.
James is looking to advance position but Kingston won't allow it.

James thows a huge punch but Kingston dodges it nicely.

Nate Kingston has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

James shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than James was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Kingston tries to bench press James off him but James keeps the position.

James scores with a couple of short elbows.
Kingston is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked James off and has taken his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kingston is looking for a rear naked choke here but James reverses the position brilliantly into Kingston's guard!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as James accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
James with a nice head shot there.
Kingston wants to stand and escape but James is having none of it.
James throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kingston works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kingston bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in James's guard.

Kevin James is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

James makes his way to full guard. A much better position for James.

Kingston has gone for a leg lock! James slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kingston's guard.

Kingston working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. James doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. James manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
James might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Kingston is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. James is aware though and is defending well.

Kingston has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but James can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nate Kingston has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kingston takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
James controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kevin James.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for James, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
