Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Felix Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cruz comes to the cage accompanied by Tech N9ne - Livin' Like I'm Dyin. Williams comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Holy Grail kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Felix Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Williams!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz slaps away a takedown attempt from Williams, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Cruz tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Williams defends well and Cruz ends up having to push Williams into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Cruz wants a takedown but no success here.

Williams gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Williams not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Cruz is trying to maintain the position but Williams is very close to passing his half guard.
Still in half guard, Williams seems content to control.
Williams prevents Cruz from improving his position.

Cruz wants to improve his position but Williams is controlling well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nice sprawl there from Cruz as Williams shoots in.
Cruz shoots in looking for a takedown but Williams manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cruz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Williams looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Cruz!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Williams cracks Cruz with a big right hand but Cruz just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Cruz manages to get to full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cruz is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Williams is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Cruz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Williams prevents Cruz from getting back to his feet.
Williams throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cruz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Williams trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Williams avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

We're going to have a standup here because Felix Cruz wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Williams showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cruz.

and Williams counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cruz's guard now.
Cruz is trying to keep Williams in close.
Cruz is really struggling to control Williams but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Cruz manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cruz unloads with some shots from mount but Williams bucks and avoids them well.
Cruz looking to control and managing it successfully.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cruz is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Cruz is trying to take his opponent's back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joe Williams will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Williams changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cruz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on Cruz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Williams wants to control but Cruz is keeping him busy.
Cruz is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Cruz regains half guard.
Williams perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Joe Williams wasn't active enough on the ground.
A solid leg kick lands there for Cruz.
Williams fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cruz avoids it really well and circles away.
Cruz dives in for a single leg takedown but Williams sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Williams is working for takedown but Cruz is calmly controlling the position for now.
Cruz is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Williams is defending well.

Williams gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Cruz regains guard.

Cruz looking for a triangle here. Williams is fighting it but it looks tight! Cruz pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Williams is tapping out - this one is all over!
