PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ford Prefect (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mao Zedong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Prefect's entrance music is For Whom The Bell Tolls. A fine choice. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Prefect tries to clinch but fails miserably

Zedong gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Prefect regains guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Zedong prevents Prefect from getting back to his feet.
Zedong is looking to work some ground and pound but Prefect has wrist control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zedong sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Prefect's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Zedong is nestled in close to Prefect, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Zedong tries to pass to full mount but Prefect defends it.
Zedong is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Prefect pushes Zedong off looking to stand but Zedong dives back in and keeps control.
Zedong is pressing down on Prefect's thigh, looking to free his foot. Prefect is holding on for now.
Zedong is trying to control. Prefect wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

My spies in Blitzkrieg Fighting Systems: Ground inform me that Zedong has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

We've been hearing good reports from Prefect's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Zedong has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Prefect's face.

Prefect is rocked!
Prefect tries to buck Zedong off but he can't manage it.

Prefect is bucking up trying to escape but Zedong cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Oh Prefect is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Zedong pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Zedong is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Prefect can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Zedong unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Prefect wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Zedong celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
