Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Dagger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Funkyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Ben Funkyama enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Dagger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Funkyama!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Funkyama fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Dagger is out of range.
Funkyama with a poor takedown
and Dagger connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Funkyama misses with a takedown
and Dagger counters with a nice leg kick.
Dagger lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Dagger scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Funkyama changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dagger tries to avoid it but Funkyama manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dagger to the ground. Dagger escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jim Dagger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Funkyama.

and Funkyama counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Funkyama can't get the takedown.
Dagger tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Funkyama's elbow.

Dagger throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Funkyamas head.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Dagger takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Funkyama gets control of Dagger's arms and successfully pulls guard. Funkyama will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Funkyama thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Dagger is trying to control. Funkyama wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Funkyama flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Jim Dagger has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Funkyama shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dagger tries a low kick but Funkyama avoids it.
Horrible takedown by Funkyama or perhaps it was just good defense by Dagger which made him look bad.
Funkyama's coach down at United Gym (PM for invitation) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Funkyama's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Funkyama shoots in but Dagger avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dagger defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Funkyama.
Dagger lands with a nice body kick.
Dagger lands a nice hook to Funkyama's body. Funkyama takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Dagger throws a nice inside leg kick.
Dagger throws a jab when Funkyama was well out of range.
Funkyama fails to land the takedown.
Dagger connects with the punch.
Dagger lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Funkyama tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dagger swivels and escapes.

Funkyama shoots in but no luck this time.
Dagger circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Funkyama drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Dagger follows Funkyama to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jim Dagger!
An out of breath and clearly excited Jim Dagger thanked DJs Locker for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
