The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maxim throws a nice outside leg kick.
Maxim misses with a looping left.
A swing and a miss from Maxim.
Maxim lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Takahara lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
It looks like Christian Maxim has been cut.

Takahara is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Takahara shoots in for a takedown but Maxim shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Takahara has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Takahara closes the distance and pushes Maxim back into the cage.
Maxim has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Takahara tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Maxim avoids it.
Maxim breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Horrible takedown by Takahara or perhaps it was just good defense by Maxim which made him look bad.

Maxim uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Takahara has time to react.

Maxim loads up on a big right hand but Takahara slips the punch.
Takahara thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Maxim if he has to take too many more of those.

Maxim will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Maxim bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Takahara's head backwards.
Maxim avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Takahara moves into the clinch successfully.
Maxim lands a hook to the side of the head.
Maxim blocks a body shot from Takahara.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Takahara takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maxim manages to break the clinch.
Maxim looks to land a left hand but Takahara moved out of range nicely.

Maxim fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Takahara manages to avoid it.
A slapping leg kick lands for Maxim.

A clash of legs there as Maxim blocks the low kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A head kick by Takahara misses
and Maxim scores with a counter punch that sends Takahara to the canvas! Maxim smells blood - he's punishing Takahara with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Takahara has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Christian Maxim!
A relieved looking Christian Maxim thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
