The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morci defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Connolly.
Morci closes the distance and clinches up with Connolly, looking for a takedown. Morci pushes Connolly against the cage but Connolly circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Connolly throws a sloppy head kick and Morci moves out of range easily.

Connolly has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Morci regains guard immediately.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Morci thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Morci tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Connolly just stands there and leans against the cage.

Morci's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Connolly bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Morci is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Connolly works to advance to full mount. Morci defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Connolly can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Morci is looking to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Connolly breaks from Morci's wrist control and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Morci has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Connolly is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Connolly tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Morci smiles and moves away.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Morci lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Connolly has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Connolly and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Morci stalks Connolly and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Connolly's face. Connolly staggers backwards, shaken.

Connolly tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Morci defends well and Connolly ends up having to push Morci into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
