Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Roland Nolan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tesea Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nolan showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Johnson.
Nolan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side.
We've been hearing reports that Nolan has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Nolan gets a takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Nolan perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Roland Nolan just wasn't active enough.
Johnson cracks Nolan with a right hand to the side of the head.

Nolan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Johnson forces Nolan back against the cage and clinches.
Johnson content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Nolan changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Johnson fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Nolan tries to score a body lock takedown but Johnson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Nolan gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Nolan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Johnson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Nolan is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Johnson's shoulder. That is not cool.
Nolan lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nolan is working Johnson over with some ground and pound from side control.
Nolan working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nolan happy to just control the position for now.
Johnson is looking to reverse the position.
Nolan is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Johnson's shoulder. That is not cool.
Johnson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Nolan tries to move into full mount but can't pass Johnson's legs.

Nolan is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Roland Nolan.
Nolan scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Nolan slips under a jab from Johnson.
Johnson throws the left hand but Nolan avoids the punch easily.
Nolan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Johnson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Johnson attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Johnson forces Nolan back against the cage and clinches.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Nolan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Nolan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nolan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Nolan moves into range and clinches up with Johnson.
Johnson trying to control the position but instead, Nolan has worked for underhooks and has pushed Johnson into the cage.
Nolan blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Johnson is trying to stall.

Nolan turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Nolan manages to end up in side control.
Nolan postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Nolan moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Nolan lands a nice forearm strike.
Nolan in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Roland Nolan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Nolan controls the position from side control.
Johnson takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nolan scores with a couple of short elbows.
Nolan content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Johnson tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nolan lands a nice forearm strike.
Nolan landing strikes.
The strikes coming from Nolan are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Nolan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Johnson can do to turn this around?

Nolan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
