PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lawrence Trainor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Je (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trainor comes to the cage accompanied by The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ray Je was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lawrence Trainor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Je!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice inside leg kick there by Trainor. That's going to slow Je down.
Trainor shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Je counters with a nice kick to the body.
Je throws a sloppy head kick and Trainor moves out of range easily.
Je circles away from the clinch attempt.
Je moves out of range as Trainor throws a body kick.
Trainor doesn't manage to clinch there - Je circles away.
Je avoids the head kick by Trainor.

Trainor really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Je has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Trainor seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Je can turn it around.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Je utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Je has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Trainor can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Trainor here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

After winning the bout, Lawrence Trainor thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
