A fine choice. Alex Shafer could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Panom Yeerum's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yeerum throws a leg kick
and Shafer counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Yeerum throws a left and a right that both miss
and Shafer counters with a series of strikes. Yeerum will be more careful next time no doubt.

Shafer scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Shafer wants to control but Yeerum is keeping him busy.
Shafer takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Yeerum pushes Shafer off looking to stand but Shafer dives back in and keeps control.

Shafer seems to be looking for submissions.
Yeerum wants to get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shafer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yeerum keeps working.
Shafer tries to pass the half guard into mount. Yeerum knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Shafer takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Yeerum is trying to stand.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Shafer connects with a nice short shot to Yeerum's temple.

Shafer drops Yeerum with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Yeerum looks back up at him and smiles so Shafer waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Yeerum is rocked!

It looks like Panom Yeerum has been cut.

Shafer closes the distance looking for a takedown. Yeerum stuffs it but Shafer still has hold of him. Shafer picks Yeerum up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Shafer slams Yeerum to the floor and that's really hurt Yeerum - he doesn't know where he is! Shafer throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
