Gonzales fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Thompson to the ground. Gonzales is now in Thompson's guard.
Thompson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Gonzales won't allow Thompson to sweep him here.
Gonzales trying to control the position from guard on top but Thompson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gonzales lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Gonzales stands up over Thompson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Gonzales has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Thompson is proving hard to escape from.
Gonzales throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Thompson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gonzales drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gonzales jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gonzales drops back, looking for a kneebar! Thompson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Thompson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Thompson!
Gonzales manages to get back to half guard.
Gonzales is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Thompson is tapping! Great win for Gonzales!
