Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mateus Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adam Gracie acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mateus Allen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 1, fighting out of New York, Adam Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shirou Masuda and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Allen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gracie avoids it really well and circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Allen enables Gracie to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Allen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Gracie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Allen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gracie landing some decent shots from guard.
Allen managing to control the position.

Allen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gracie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Allen is looking for a triangle but Gracie pushes his legs off easily.

Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Allen is retaining full guard.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gracie looking to sit in guard and control but Allen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gracie wants to sweep here but Allen controlling him for the moment.
Allen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Allen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gracie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Allen has managed to get both his arms back between Gracie's legs - danger averted.
Gracie lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Allen!

Gracie can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Allen is looking to escape.

Gracie is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Allen can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Gracie jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Allen manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gracie fails to land a wild elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Gracie dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Allen pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Allen loads up on a big right hand but Gracie slips the punch.
Allen takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Gracie fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Allen looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Gracie scores with a nice head shot.

Gracie closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gracie passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Allen!
Gracie scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Gracie pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Gracie with shots to the head and body - Allen looks very uncomfortable down there.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gracie cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

BOOM! Gracie connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Allen is looking to get to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Allen is squirming around, avoiding Gracie's attempts to control the action.
Allen is bucking up trying to escape but Gracie cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Allen tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gracie cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!


Allen is rocked!
Allen can't escape the position.
Allen sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Gracie thows a huge punch but Allen dodges it nicely.
Allen is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard.
Gracie missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Gracie looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Allen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Gracie is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Gracie can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Allen is looking to escape.

Gracie has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Gracie wants to control the pace but Allen is squirming around nicely.

Gracie goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Allen is on top in guard.

Gracie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gracie is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Allen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Allen's back!
Allen prevents Gracie from getting a body triangle.

Gracie has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Allen has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Adam Gracie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Allen walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Allen misses with a hook. Gracie ducked under it nicely.
Allen's corner calls for a 1-2. Allen obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Gracie jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Allen is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Allen and Gracie has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Mateus Allen will probably get the nod.

and Gracie counters with a takedown into side control.
