PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Russell Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paddy Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jacobs comes to the cage accompanied by Till I Collapse. Paddy Fox told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

With a record of 25 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paddy Fox!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fox throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Jacobs throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Fox on the side of the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fox changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jacobs looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We've been hearing good reports from Jacobs's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Fox got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jacobs has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fox has managed to get both his arms back between Jacobs's legs - danger averted.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Paddy Fox hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Fox darts in looking for a takedown but Jacobs gets double underhooks and turns Fox into the cage.

Jacobs has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Fox clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Jacobs has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Fox's body.

Fox shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jacobs as he avoids it easily.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Jacobs here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Fox is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Russell Jacobs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paddy Fox.
Fox takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Fox changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jacobs tries to avoid it but Fox manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jacobs to the ground. Jacobs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
