PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Kingsley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malaik Hamadani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hamadani is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Prince Of Persia - Welcome Within. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, James Kingsley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Malaik Hamadani!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, David Schapiro and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kingsley keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Hamadani has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Hamadani throws a poor cross that misses

and Kingsley counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hamadani won't be happy with that.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Kingsley is looking to take a break and control but Hamadani is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kingsley lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hamadani down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kingsley is looking to take a break and control but Hamadani is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kingsley shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hamadani as he avoids it easily.
Kingsley stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kingsley wants it to stay on the feet.

Hamadani jabs Kingsley right on the nose. Kingsley blinks but takes it well.

Hamadani postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kingsley is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hamadani, into his guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A slapping leg kick lands for Hamadani.
Hamadani changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kingsley tries to avoid it but Hamadani manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kingsley to the ground. Kingsley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Kingsley counters with a single leg into guard. Hamadani didn't expect that.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hamadani might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kingsley haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Good leg kick by Hamadani there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Hamadani lunges at Kingsley with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kingsley's hand.
Hamadani buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Hamadani moves out of range as Kingsley strikes.
Kingsley steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Hamadani. That one must have hurt.

Kingsley sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Hamadani swings for the body but Kingsley moves out of range.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kingsley, as that shot connected.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Kingsley counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
James Kingsley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Malaik Hamadani.
Kingsley takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Hamadani throws a leg kick but Kingsley sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hamadani.
Hamadani takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hamadani connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kingsley momentarily.
Kingsley fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hamadani manages to avoid it.
Hamadani lets loose with a powerful body kick. Kingsley will feel that in the morning.
Malaik Hamadani seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kingsley shoots in for a takedown but Hamadani shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Kingsley lands a really nice looking cross but Hamadani seems unphased.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hamadani goes for a double leg but Kingsley avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kingsley continues to drive forward.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hamadani wants to take the fight to the mat but Kingsley manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

That was a close second round but I would say that James Kingsley will probably get the nod.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kingsley enables Hamadani to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kingsley manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hamadani has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kingsley seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Hamadani is looking to control Kingsley's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hamadani avoid being mounted?

Malaik Hamadani comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hamadani has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Malaik Hamadani started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
