Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Gruberman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Dengel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dengel has chosen Sweat Loaf as his entrance music. Ed Gruberman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul Dengel!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oooh a lovely combination from Dengel sends Gruberman down but not out. Dengel dives into side control looking to finish.


Gruberman is rocked!


It looks like Ed Gruberman has been cut.
Gruberman is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Oh Gruberman is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gruberman trying to control but Dengel flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Gruberman staying busy and making it hard for Dengel to control.

Dengel is controlling the position but Gruberman somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Dengel works over Gruberman's head and body with a nice combination.
Gruberman is breathing heavily.

The fight stays on the outside here - Dengel looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Dengel scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Gruberman gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Dengel winds up and cracks Gruberman with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dengel thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The fighters are battling for position here. Gruberman manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Gruberman looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Gruberman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dengel's guard.

Dengel can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gruberman controls the pace.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dengel misses with a takedown attempt

and Gruberman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Gruberman is pushing down on Dengel's leg trying to pass to half guard. Dengel is fighting to maintain full guard but Gruberman has managed to sneak the leg through.
Gruberman thows a huge punch but Dengel dodges it nicely.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gruberman connects with a nice short shot to Dengel's temple.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gruberman in particular looking to stall.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gruberman moves nicely into side control.

Gruberman wants to control but Dengel is keeping him busy.

Gruberman lands a decent elbow from side control.
Dengel tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Gruberman passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Dengel!

Gruberman wants to finish this one by submission but Dengel is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gruberman.
Gruberman wants to control the pace but Dengel is squirming around nicely.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Gruberman moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Dengel has worked his arm free - good work by Dengel!
Dengel manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Gruberman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gruberman is looking to control Dengel's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gruberman avoid being mounted?
Dengel looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Gruberman moves into full guard.
Dengel would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Dengel tries to free his leg and advance position but Gruberman is retaining full guard.
Gruberman controls Dengel momentarily but Dengel frees himself.
Gruberman lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dengel has his takedown stuffed

and Gruberman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Dengel's guard now.

Dengel throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Dengel tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Gruberman is stalling in the full guard.
Dengel trying to control the position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Dengel scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Gruberman moves into the clinch successfully.
Dengel wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Gruberman wants a takedown.
Come on Dengel - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Ed Gruberman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gruberman has his hands on Dengel's head, controlling the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gruberman takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Dengel gets caught flat footed, as Gruberman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Gruberman sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Dengel striking off his back but it's not causing Gruberman any problems.
Gruberman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dengel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dengel wants to sweep here but Gruberman controlling him for the moment.
Gruberman slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Dengel is trying to escape the position but Gruberman is controlling the position.
Gruberman wants to control but Dengel is keeping him busy.

Dengel is looking to regain half guard here but Gruberman keeps moving and retains side control.
Dengel is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gruberman is chipping away with strikes.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Gruberman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Dengel is in a horrible position here. Gruberman smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Dengel keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Dengel tries to hold on but Gruberman postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ed Gruberman showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Gruberman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
