Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Brookins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iain Durrant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brookins comes into the arena with Kickstart blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jonathan Brookins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Iain Durrant!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Dean Styles and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durrant throws a right and a left that Brookins avoids nicely.
Brookins connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Brookins throws a head kick but Durrant moves out of range.
Brookins scores with a jab. Durrant acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Brookins misses with a looping left.
Brookins uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Durrant throws a right and a left that both miss.
Brookins thuds his right hand into Durrant's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Durrant darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Durrant is looking for a kimura but Brookins is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Durrant to get the leverage.

Durrant is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Durrant is looking to advance position but Brookins won't allow it.

The fighters are battling for position here. Brookins manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Durrant wants to control from the top but Brookins keeps moving.

Brookins has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Durrant is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jonathan Brookins will probably get the nod.

Brookins drops his hands momentarily and Durrant takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Brookins shoots in for a takedown but Durrant shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Durrant throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nice takedown defense from Durrant. No joy for Brookins on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonathan Brookins. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brookins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Durrant tries to avoid it but Brookins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Durrant to the ground. Durrant escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Brookins's corner calls for a 1-2. Brookins obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jonathan Brookins.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Brookins, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
