The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balis scores with a jab to the body.
Balis fails in his attempt to clinch.
Romero avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Romero closes this distance looking for a takedown but Balis circles away.
Balis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Romero counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Balis wants to get back to his feet.
Balis scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Romero manages to mount him!
Romero content just to control the position here.
Romero seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Balis for as long as he can get away with.

Romero is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Romero extends the arm and Balis is forced to tap!
