PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kyros Sisyphus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiro Nohara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kyros Sisyphus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiro Nohara!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Dean Styles and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nohara lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sisyphus backs up against the cage.

Sisyphus closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Nohara did well to prevent Sisyphus getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sisyphus is looking for a kimura but Nohara is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sisyphus to get the leverage.

Sisyphus is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Sisyphus seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nohara does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Sisyphus is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nohara doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sisyphus.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sisyphus wants to control the pace but Nohara is squirming around nicely.

Sisyphus goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Nohara turns into him and now he's in Sisyphus's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kyros Sisyphus will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nohara jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

and Nohara counters with a solid body kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nohara throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hiro Nohara seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Nohara fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A decent looking cross lands there for Nohara.
Oh Sisyphus is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Nohara throws a nice inside leg kick.

Nohara drops Sisyphus with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Sisyphus looks back up at him and smiles so Nohara waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Nohara takes the fight into the clinch.
Nohara tries to work over Sisyphus's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Nohara is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Sisyphus seems to have got his legs back now.

Hiro Nohara showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

During a confident post fight interview, Hiro Nohara thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
