The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Sanchez shoots in for a double leg but Joaquin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
De Sanchez closes the distance but Joaquin moves to the side

so Joaquin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
De Sanchez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Joaquin drops back looking for a leg! De Sanchez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and De Sanchez manages to kick Joaquin off! Joaquin jumps back into De Sanchez's guard.
Joaquin is looking to work some ground and pound but De Sanchez has wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
De Sanchez wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Joaquin is now in half guard.
Joaquin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

De Sanchez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Joaquin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
De Sanchez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Joaquin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
