The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Don lands a glancing blow to the side of Materla's head.

It looks like Michal Materla has been cut.

Materla bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Materla wants to stand but Don has his arm trapped.

Materla is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Don knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Materla gets to mount! Don was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Don is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Don is looking to improve his position but Materla isn't that keen on the idea.

Materla misses with a head shot.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Materla is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Don can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Don tries to hold on but Materla pushes him away.

Don really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Materla. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Materla wants to control the pace but Don is squirming around nicely.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Materla shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Don manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Materla is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Don is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Materla gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

A slow jab from Don misses its intended target.
Don misses with a looping right.

Materla throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Don was covering up waiting for the punch and Materla finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Don is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Materla slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
