PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Will Boulks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gus White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gus White will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Will Boulks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gus White!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White cracks Boulks with an open hand slap.
White lands a really nice looking cross but Boulks seems unphased.
White loads up on a big right hand but Boulks slips the punch.
Boulks walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
White lands a right hook to the body.
White scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
White throws a leg kick

and Boulks counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boulks tries to stand but can't do so whilst White controls his leg.
White is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

White manages to escape and get back to his feet!

White misses with a double jab.
Boulks takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that White has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Boulks displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as White throws out the jab.
Gus White is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
White lands with a hook. Boulks tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
White scores with a hook.
White lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
White lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
White tries a head kick but it misses.
White throws the kick towards the body but Boulks avoids it.

White lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
White scores with a kick to the body.

White fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Boulks, pushing him back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Boulks blocks a body shot from White.
Boulks has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. White is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
White misses with a punch to the body.
Boulks is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Boulks is working for takedown but White is calmly controlling the position for now.

White tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Boulks's elbow.

Boulks has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. White is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
White misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Boulks turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
White is trying to buck Boulks off.
Boulks tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
White manages to work his way to half guard, despite Boulks's best efforts.

It looks like Boulks is going to stand back up.
Boulks not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
White is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
White is still trying to improve position.

Boulks is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so White is just riding it out for now. Boulks eventually gives up the hold.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Boulks wants to stand but his hand is trapped. White uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gus White dominated that round.

White with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

White darts in and clinches Boulks up against the cage.
White is defending well against a takedown attempt.
White gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Boulks.
Boulks blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
White tries a body shot but Boulks blocks it.
White is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Will Boulks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
White lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Boulks.
White throws a head punch that misses.

Boulks tries to score a body lock takedown but White shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Boulks has been working on his balance at ~T~ Troid - Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by White.

White has his hands clasped together around Boulks's back. He's all about the action.
Boulks tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
White is trying to stand up here but Boulks is controlling him well.
White is not content to let Boulks control the position.

It looks like Boulks is going to stand back up.
Will Boulks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

White has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Boulks is on him like a limpet, forcing White back against the cage.
White lands a right hand that snaps the head of Boulks backwards.
White lands a shoulder strike.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Boulks wants to take the fight to the mat but White manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
White pushes Boulks back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
White goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
White is pressed up against the cage. Boulks has hold of a leg and is looking to drag White down to the mat. White avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gus White seems to be getting the better of the standup.
White walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Boulks checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

White throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
White uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Boulks is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
White moves into range and connects with a jab.
Boulks checks the leg kick nicely there.
White lands with a thumping leg kick.
White ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Gus White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

White thumps Boulks with a low kick.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Boulks doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
White fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Boulks.
White connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Boulks momentarily.
Nice uppercut there from White.
White shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Boulks eats them both and turns towards White to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


Boulks is rocked!
Boulks checks a low kick from White.
Boulks drops his hands momentarily and White takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Oh Boulks is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
White throws a leg kick

and Boulks counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Boulks trying to control but White is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gus White showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Boulks seems to have got his legs back now.
Boulks moves forwards but White connects with a nice, crisp jab.
White lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
White looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

White closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Boulks tries to score a body lock takedown but White shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Boulks wants a takedown but no success here.
White misses with a hook from the clinch.

White goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

White throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Boulkss head.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Still in the clinch, White scores with a nice short uppercut.
White tries to throw a body punch but Boulks avoids it by throwing White back against the cage.
White tries a body shot but Boulks blocks it.
Boulks drops to a knee looking for a takedown but White gets the underhooks and prevents it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
White pushes Boulks back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
White misses with a hook to the ribs.
White lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Boulks backwards.
Boulks has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by White after a bit of a struggle.
White lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
White lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Still in the clinch, White scores with a nice short uppercut.
White is working Boulks over against the cage.

White drops Boulks onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Boulks is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
White misses with a body punch.
White lands with a right to the head.
White is leaning against Boulks and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
White unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Boulks! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but White is unloading with more strikes now! Boulks drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gus White!
Gus White decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
