Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Dubz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Geoffrey Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Geoffrey Powell has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jay Dubz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Geoffrey Powell!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Powell drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Powell trying to control the action but Dubz is working from the bottom.
Dubz is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Urban Fight Gym (12 ELITE COACHES), so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Powell is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Dubz parries the strikes from Powell easily there. Powell is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Dubz to escape.

Powell misses with the ground and pound.
Dubz regains half guard, as Powell was trying to land strikes.
Powell stalling away here and it's allowed Dubz to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Powell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dubz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Powell cracks Dubz with a solid left hand.
Powell working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Dubz's head.
Powell showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Powell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Powell makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dubz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Powell lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Powell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Powell advances to half guard.
Powell missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Dubz is staying active underneath Powell, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Powell throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Powell is trying to control the action in half guard but Dubz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Powell perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Dubz holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Powell is looking to take a break and control but Dubz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Powell lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Dubz is not content to let Powell control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Powell closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dubz to the mat! Dubz manages to get full guard.
Powell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dubz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Powell wants to pass the guard but Dubz is keeping the position.

Powell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Powell looking to sit in guard and control but Dubz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Powell not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dubz wants to stand but Powell is controlling his posture from full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Geoffrey Powell wasn't active enough on the ground.
Dubz takes a swing at Powell's ribcage but misses.
Powell lands with a hook. Dubz tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Powell has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
A shot to the liver by Dubz. Beautiful body shot.

Powell paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Powell throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Powell stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

A slow jab from Dubz misses its intended target.
Powell throws a right hand that misses
and Dubz counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Dubz defending well as Powell loads up on a big left hand.
Powell misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Powell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Dubz misses with a wild body shot.
Dubz takes a swing at Powell's ribcage but misses.
Dubz misses the body punch
and Powell counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Dubz enables Powell to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dubz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Powell is looking to work some ground and pound but Dubz has wrist control.
Powell throws a strike but Dubz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Dubz has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Powell is proving hard to escape from.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Powell is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dubz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Geoffrey Powell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

and Dubz counters with a left and a right that stings Powell.

Powell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dubz's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dubz in particular looking to stall.
Powell is trying to maintain the position but Dubz is very close to passing his half guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Powell slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Dubz throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Dubz slips under a jab from Powell.
Dubz bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Powell's head.
Powell might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dubz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nice jab there from Powell.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jay Dubz.
I think Powell has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
