PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mario Turk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Tua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tua has chosen Sandstorm as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tua's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Tua duly obliges.
Turk is looking to clinch but Tua is avoiding it.
Turk jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Turk scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
No joy there for Tua, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Turk pushes Tua up against the cage in a clinch.
Tua wants to stall.

Tua breaks from the clinch.
Tua shoots in but Turk avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Turk swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Turk fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Tua looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Turk gets a clinch.
Turk wants to get back to striking at distance but Tua won't allow it.
Turk stalling.
Tua tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Turk just stands there and leans against the cage.
A body shot lands from Turk.

Turk breaks the clinch.
Turk attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Turk looks to throw the jab but Tua is out of range.
Tua looks gassed!
Tua tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Turk paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Turk counters with a big uppercut that knocks Tua off his feet! Turk dives into side control looking to finish!

Tua is rocked!
Turk in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Tua is still in real trouble! Can Turk finish him?

Turk stands up and beckons Tua to his feet.
Tua seems to have recovered his senses.
Tua misses with a straight right.
Tua shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Turk as he avoids it easily.
Mario Turk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Tua.
Tua looks to land a combination. Turk sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Turk drops Tua with a big left hand and mounts him. Tua is in big trouble!

It looks like Jacob Tua has been cut.
Turk controlling the position easily from mount.

Tua is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tua wants to hold on but Turk pushes him away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Tua clinches but Turk breaks the clinch
and Turk counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
A decent looking cross lands there for Turk.
No joy there for Tua, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Turk connects with a good right hand that stumbles Tua. Tua circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Tua doesn't manage to clinch there - Turk circles away.
Turk throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nice straight punches there by Turk. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Turk.
Tua shoots in for a takedown but Turk shows good takedown defense.
Turk buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Tua walks into a stiff left hand from Turk.
Tua avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Tua shoots in and bounces Turk off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Turk throws and low kick but Tua moves out of range easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tua wants to get up but he can't break Turk's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Turk lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Tua sprawling to the canvas. Turk follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Tua hang on?
Turk is controlling the pace.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mario Turk.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Turk, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
