Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mac Razum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Catalina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mac Razum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Catalina!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Catalina gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Razum pushes down on Catalina's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Razum is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Catalina has managed to free his arm - good work.
Razum trying to control the pace.

Catalina is defending against the submission attempts here by Razum.
Razum prevents Catalina from standing back up.
Catalina looks gassed!

Razum is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Razum really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Catalina is trying to stand.
Razum trying to control from half guard but Catalina is working away.
Catalina is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Razum scores with a couple of nice shots.

Razum seems to be working for a kimura but Catalina defends the submission attempt.

Razum looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Razum is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Razum is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Catalina trying to control here.
Razum passes to full mount!
Razum controlling from the full mount.
Razum lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Catalina hang on?

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Razum working the ground and pound effectively.
Razum lands a nice shot to the head.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Razum cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Catalina can't escape the position.
Razum wants to take his opponent's back but instead Catalina manages to regain half guard.

Razum is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Catalina doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Razum.

Razum is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Razum is just content to waste time from the top position. Catalina takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Razum with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Razum tries to free his leg and advance position but Catalina is retaining full guard.
Razum stops Catalina from standing up.
Razum is looking to work some ground and pound but Catalina has wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Razum accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Razum wants to pass the guard but Catalina is keeping the position.
Razum passes Catalina's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Razum passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Catalina!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mac Razum dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Razum feints and as Catalina raises his hands in defense, Razum changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Razum forces his way into half guard.

Razum is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Razum looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Razum is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Razum is trying to work for a kimura but Catalina is defending well.

Razum is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Razum has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Razum is looking to take a break and control but Catalina is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Razum wants to pass to mount but Catalina is defending the position.
Catalina is trying to stand.

Razum is trying to work for a kimura but Catalina is defending well.
Catalina tries to kick Razum off but Razum keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Razum is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Razum fails with a takedown attempt.

Razum shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Razum showed some decent athleticism there.
Razum looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Razum is trying to control the action in half guard but Catalina is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Catalina is looking to escape.
Catalina makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Catalina.
Razum pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Catalina is keeping the position for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Razum trying to control the position from guard on top but Catalina is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Razum has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Razum shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Razum tries to free his leg and advance position but Catalina is retaining full guard.

Razum stands up from Catalina's guard - Razum perhaps looking for a knockout.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Razum.
James Catalina seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Razum throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Catalina's waist but Catalina gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Razum off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mac Razum. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Razum fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
A jab from Razum misses.

Razum decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Razum blocks the strikes from Catalina.
Catalina looks like he's trying to stand up.
Razum is looking to take a break and control but Catalina is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Razum fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A punch combination from Catalina misses.
Catalina throws a right and a left that both miss.
Razum doesn't manage to clinch there - Catalina circles away.

Razum feints and as Catalina raises his hands in defense, Razum changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Razum trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Catalina utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Catalina wants to sweep here but Razum controlling him for the moment.
Catalina controls Razum momentarily but Razum frees himself.
Razum forces his way into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Catalina is looking to control Razum's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Catalina avoid being mounted?

Catalina is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Catalina has hold of Razum's hands but Razum slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Razum is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Razum stands up from half guard.
Mac Razum is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Catalina misses the jab.
Catalina misses with a two punch combination.

Razum gets the takedown into side control.
Catalina being controlled for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Razum tries to move into full mount but can't pass Catalina's legs.
Razum working the ground and pound.
Razum controlling the position.

Razum working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Catalina is trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Razum advances nicely into full mount.

Razum goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Catalina turns into him and now he's in Razum's guard.
Razum has a closed guard, preventing Catalina from standing up.
Mac Razum overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Razum trying to keep a closed guard but Catalina is proving a slippery customer.
Razum wants to sweep but no luck.
James Catalina has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Razum keeping moving, preventing Catalina from controlling successfully.
Razum is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mac Razum showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Razum, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
